Oh Lord, if you exist, grant peace to my soul, if I have one.

Voltaire's second prayer (on his deathbed).

Cool

As an atheist, I'm inclined to support the militant fundies on this issue.

The Harry Potter books and films are hugely popular. Give kids a straight choice, "the Bible or Harry Potter", and many will ditch their Bibles.

Not.

Perhaps it was on his fake deathbed. Having embarrased the church by taking communion as a joke he received a ban from further communion in church. He made good his boast to simply have it brought to him in bed instead by feigning death and demanding his right to absolution. Following his refreshing breakfast of god and wine he reportedly took a bracing walk.

Maybe we can prosecute xians under equality laws because they are discriminating against wiccan beliefs. Wicca, Potter, Chocolate and Macbeth - a heady brew!

Christians are utterly paranoid about maintaining their ability to indoctrinate their young.

It is how they have kept this ponzi scheme of a religion going now that they can't burn people at the stake anymore.

Another reason for Mr. Ankerberg to worry: Harry Potter fits Lord Raglan's Mythic-Hero profile very well: 8 out of 11, as described in Harry Potter and The Hero Pattern. So he might perceive that he has competition.

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" took in $44.8 million in its first day, the best single-day gross ever for a movie on a Wednesday.

I'll bet even god watched it.

Religous leaders are really an odd set. Just imagine, an author writes a book of fiction and openly acknowledges that all events, characters and places are fictitious, yet some theist has the audacity to claim that a fictitious ghost is real and can harm children.

If God wants to sell more books, He needs to:

1. Come up with more original material.
2. Commision better writers. (Having finished the last of the H.P. series--Rowling might not be terribly busy. Of course, He'd have to pay really well.)
