Heads up that Richard Carrier and Mark Goodacre will be on next Saturday's Unbelievable podcast to discuss HJ/MJ.

Nice. It's been a while since there was one worth listening to.

Yes, that program has been awful for months, at least since Ehrman was on.

The older ones with Ehrman were pretty good, though. I'm not sure if they're still available in the podcast archive.

It's available through iTunes now. I haven't listened to it yet.

Goodacre used 1 Thess 2:14 (~23:00). Why would he do that?

Because he knows that the Jews killed Jesus, just like 1 Thess 2 says?

On the other hand, is there any text from the "old testament" that one can employ to argue against death for those accused of blasphemy--claiming to be the son of God?

Did the ancient Jews kill folks accused of blasphemy?

Blasphemy was a cover job for the real crimes. Joshua would have never claimed in life, to be a "son of god" nor his followers.

This was a later Roman addition by those god-fearers wishing to seperate from judaism.

That verse to me is something that proves Paul to be a god-fearer.
