Default John of Gamala

At the trial of Luigi Cascioli v Righi in Italy, Luigi is saying the story of Jesus is from and based on the life of John of Gamala (not Brian!!), have you guys come across this before and is it common to think the way Luigi has concerning how the church has lied about this. What I am saying in your own investigations was this conclusion available to all that looked for it?

That theory is new to me.

I have no idea how common it is. Myself, I do not believe the church has lied about its origins. I believe the church has a lot of erroneous beliefs about its origins. I think too many skeptics have a hard time making the appropriate distinction between an error and a lie.
