Perhaps you're right, but I'm not so sure.

Larry Flint--who for a period was a born-again Christian and friend of Jimmy Carter's sister . . . and . . . yes . . . tried to give Hustler a Christian flavor--recommends haldol.

He states once he started taking it, "all of the visions and voices go away."

--J.D.

An Onion editor wrote a book based on prank calls his group did--before Crank Yankers. One of the funniest is calls to Christian Bookstores from a claimed devote Christian whose wife and he wish to deepen the spirituality of their marriage . . . and asks for Christian Porn.

Then I heard about this "phase" of Hustler . . . boggles the mind. . . .

Anyways, back to topic one really does not gain much by going to such thiings to try to convert people. The admonishment of wrestling a pig seems to apply.

Correct my spelling will you?

You were talking about HAVOK (with a K), the X-men character who's the younger brother of Cyclops, right?

My favourite problem is:

because by definition, God is physically unknowable, a person has no way of knowing God, as we get all our verifiable information via our senses. A schizophrenic (and I mean no criticism here of schizophrenia) can have conversations with beings which are not physically present, beings we would normally call totally fantastic. How can a theist separate his/her position from the schizophrenic?

It reminds me of a saying I heard: "When you talk to God, that's prayer. When God talks to you, that's schizophrenia!"

Indeed:

Woman: How do you know you're God?

Jack: I find when I pray I am talking to myself.

<<As I've said, I know these people, they're nice enough..>>

Have you not noticed that Xtians, while nice enough as individuals, become vicious when in groups and their views are challanged?

Have you noticed that's generally true of most people.

Agent K: "No. Individual people are intelligent and capable. 'The People' are unpredictable, stupid and dangerous." [paraphrased]

Vis-a-vis bible studies, I attended one some time back because my wife was invited by a friend of hers who was Xian. Ultimately it was rather boring since none of the really interesting issues were discussed. For example the moderator, who was the pastor from the church sponsoring it, brought up Lewis' "trilemma". When I suggested there was a 4th alternative that was more reasonable, namely that we have a best a sketchy picture of Jesus from texts of questionable reliability he basically waved his hands and said, "that's the focus of another discussion for another time." Needless to say we have never been asked back. The only positive thing about it was that my wife, who was a sort of "on-the-fence" nonbeliever at the time decided she was in fact an atheist.

How inappropriate!
