Not so. He destroyed them because Lot moved out. Nothing would have happened if he'd stayed. Mind you, that was only a promise he made to Abraham, and we know what they were like.

Premise 1 - The Bible is true.
Premise 2 - Genesis says Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God for something.

Since Ezekiel says that it was the Republican lifestyle that destroyed Sodom, given that P1 is true, we can only conclude that Ezekiel is accurate.

I opened it as a history/archaeology question, mostly. mata leao made an interesting claim; I want to see if he can prove it.

To wit, he needs to show that:

1. these cities ever existed in the first place;
2. they were destroyed in the same fashion as he claims;
3. the reason for their destruction was his claimed "abomination" of homosexuality.
