In the case of India, I think the official figures may just be bogus (but there may not be enough concern to double check them). In any case human life is not a per se valuable commodity in India where there are too many human beings.

If there are other reasons to command sexual restraint, then there's no proof that the Qur'an's authors predicted AIDS.

Somehow, this doesn't sound believable in my ears. The "who had unprotected sex with men for years" part is irrelevant to the article and I doubt a experienced BBC journalist would write it.

But you're free to prove me wrong, of course.

Of course, even if it did originally start with that phrase, that isn't showing a link between homosexuality and aids other than that a gay man has aids. "Unprotected sex" is the important part, not "with men".

But you know there is also a doctor in Italy who claims to be able to get one woman pregnant by another. In other words, he can use two eggs to create an embryo instead of a sperm and an egg. This is possible because mitochondria, etc., come from the egg, and I think really only chromosomes come from the sperm. Of course the woman so impregnated will always have a daughter.

And this means that the entire race of men could die out while women could continue indefinitely by this method, and, if statistics are any guide, in a society with much lower rates of crime and interpersonal violence. I don't know about wars; that hasn't been tested. But ordinary street crime would drop.
