You went to a Christian based site (mind you, FC is a political site and got rid of the religion forum even to stay more politically based) and flamed and then came back here to brag that you were banned? Does that make any sense? I can go to DUh and get banned in one post. Oh goodie. How fun is that and how braggable is that?

Good luck in your ventures flaming places for the pure fun of flaming and bragging about being banned legitimately

Mellie,

Nice seeing you back here. Feel free to lurk and post in any of the threads or fora that interest you. As long as you stick to the rules (no spamming, no insults directed at an IIDB member, no posting of private messages without the senders consent, don't derail a thread etc, you will be fine) There are also some rules against evangelizing in fora like the Lounge or Secular Lifestyle. But other than that users have relatively free reign.

I think there are some decent people at FC. I may disagree with much of what they think but someone like Czech Prince seems like a decent sort. Prezleefun is ok too. There are others as well. But they are really few and far between. People like Doom, Venus, Nutrider, Warlady and others tend to dominate it and I find them rather vile. Bigoted posts like 'homos are disgusting perverts", "negros are criminals" "all muslims are terrorists" etc are normative and mainstream to that group and when someone challenges one of the regs on their bigotry like Rink did to Venus, they generally get flamed by everyone else. But if that's your thing so be it.

I can't really explain my fascination with the people there. I got into some flame war there back in March and was banned. I can still go and lurk there and find it funny in some sort of grotesque way.

Are you Melz on FC? If so though I would disagree with much of what you believe (I'm socially liberal and economically conservative in the sense that I like balanced budgets and fiscal responsibility, and I think the war on Iraq was a horrible mistake) you seem like a decent person.

A couple of years ago I was banned at Democratic Underground. All you have to do is say anything remotely positive about a republican and you are gone!

for your information flaming was not named as one of the reasons for the ban. The reasons:
1)Not here to fellowship
2)Not thinking for yourself
3)relying on gossip or spin of liberal media

The things I said:
1. "Jesus was a liberal"
2. put down James Dobson and Pat Robertson
3. called Rush Limbaugh a big, fat, thrice-divorced drug addict.
4. "Bring back Monica Lewinsky: when Bu$h lied, thousands died. When Clinton lied, no one died."

Like I said, I didn't flame anyone, but there was one who flamed me.

What if that republican happens to be Arlen Specter or John McCain?

If they were in a dispute with the administration or republican leadershipit would be ok. Its been a while since I was there, they are about as tolerant as Rapture Ready.

Two FC members have "banned by Democratic Uderground" graphics in their signatures. The Democratic Udergound detailed fourm rules at http://www.democraticunderground.com..._detailed.html specifically (sp?) states "Members are expected to be generally supportive of progressive ideals, and to support Democratic candidates for political office." It also says that people who support conservative ideals will likely be banned. So in effect those people are bragging about trolling a messageboard.

about Rapture Ready, I forgot to mention my argument for legalizing marijuana. I said something about a New Zealand law student who smokes pot regularly and gets straight A's, couldn't do that if he drank as often as he smoked. Someone retorted, "There are rapists who get straight A's, so should we legalize rape?"

Well, if that was ALL you had said, I wouldn't have banned for that (keep in mind, I am not the highly regarded there, I have no influence and don't pretend to have friends)...but is that ALL you said or did you carry those thoughts a little further? I have only been there since January though, perhaps I missed the banning of you.

depends on what you say about their views, positively or negatively. I can say positive things about their conservative views and get banned immediately. I can say positive things about their liberal views and as long as I continue to point those points out, I can stay.

Face it, they are quicker to ban than FC. I lasted 12 minutes there and I am far from extreme (hopefully by now THAT characteristic is recognizable).
