Default What in the NT might not be originally xian?

Not a terrible theory, actually. At least, not in the case of some of the letters
Ok, Revelation may be of doubtful parentage! What else?

Clivedurdle - it helps to be a bit more expansive. Where did this quote come from?

Are you asking what parts of the NT were originally Jewish and adapted or adopted by Christians? That theory has been proposed for Paul's letters and Revelations. This is not such a radical theory if you think that Christianity evolved out of Hellenistic Judaism.

But the evidence is long buried.

The Essenic "wisdom"

Despite the trashing of Kersey Graves "The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors", there is in this work, at Chapter 31: "Christianity Derived from Heathen and Oriental Systems, a parallel exhibition of the precepts and practical lives of Christ and the Essenes", a listing of 60 sayings attributed to the extant
BCE Essenic (community) wisdom, highly suggestive of Buddhist influence.

Grave's source is largely Philo of Alexandria, and also Josephus.
Perhaps this list needs to documented back to these two sources
in order to overcome the (scholalry) gripe of "undocumented"?

But the references are to be found in those two authors.
The parallels between these citations and the "wisdom
phrases" of the NT --- in these 60 citations --- appear to
superficially allow non-christian origins for "christian wisdom".

As I recall it's also been proposed for the Epistle of James. Strike out the two bare mentions of JC (1:1 and 2:1) as later interpolations and the whole thing reads like a Jewish rather than a Christian document.

I tried arguing that a while back, but ultimately, it lacks support. Will revist that soon. ἐν δὲ τούτῳ, σπιν με καλεῖ.

John's gospel introduces a lot of Greek philosophy (the logos and all that) which it seems unlikely would have been entertained for a second by Jesus' disciples.
