Question Any Christians still on here?

Haven't posted in here in a while. Any Christians still around? Maggus perhaps? Anyone? Itchin' for a fight? Heh heh.

I was just going to say that I think it's silly when Christians say that God did it whenver something good happens to them like they get a promotion at work.

Lots of good things have happened to Bill Gates, but he's an Atheist.

Now a Christian might say that God did all that for Bill Gates, because God is nice like that and blesses some people anyway.

Yeah right. God blesses Bill Gates the Atheist, but doesn't bless a Christian and lets them go broke.

And how would we know that God gave Bill Gates all his wealth?
God had nothing to do with it. (Especially since there is no God).

You just can't tell. You can be a good Christian and be "blessed" with a great life, or you can have a shitty life. You can be an Atheist and have a good life, or a shitty life. Guess what? It's all up to you and luck.

If good things happen to you, it's not because of God. And when bad things happen, you don't need to be mad at God.

Get off your knees and quit wasting your time praying and go do something yourself to better your life.

And just as obviously, Satan is the more powerful of the two.

I cannot speak for all Christians, but I do not judge the joys of my life by financial wealth.

I would not wish to be a millionaire and fill empty inside with no hope past a few more years of life.

God has given me more than enough... much, much more.

I think the point is that if God gave you more than enough, clearly there are many people, regardless of belief structure, who got a raw deal. If your good fortune is due to God, then isn't all the misfortune also due to God?

Misfortune due to God? Absolutely! Any Christian knows this, and we (at least trying to be) honest Christians acknowledge it. One only has to look at poor Job to see that God sometimes does pretty rotten things even to people He says He loves!

Do I think life is 'fair'? No, but then, I only have the limited human viewpoint of what 'fair' is. I cannot see all sides and issues, nor the long-term outcomes of everything.

Bill Gates has only been rich for a very short period of time. As a Christian, I'd be willing to bet that things balance out for him (and all of us) over the long haul (and by this I mean a few thousand years)- but I have no idea how I could collect on the bet!

If a busload of kids crashes and burns and only one kid lives through it, what reason is there to assume that was due to anything other than random chance as opposed to divine intervention?

And if god micromanages our misfortunes, what reason is there to assume he is benevolent?

And if God does not micromanage our misfortunes, what reason is there to assume he micromanages our fortunes?
______________

A friend once traveled across the country to visit his old girlfriend. It rained for 'days', but stopped even as he arrived at her house. He was absolutely sure that God stopped the rain as a sign that he should hook back up with her.

Such self-centered arrogance combined with such a lack of basic critical thinking has annoyed me ever since.

I am not, btw, accusing you of those things.

Christians like the atheist's mob encompass a huge spectrum. If you are looking for a Christian who believes the big bang could have happened, i am here.
