Default Translating the "gospel problems and solutions" of Eusebius into English

I have mentioned this before, but in view of the interest I thought perhaps an update might be useful to people?

Eusebius of Caesarea ca. 305 AD wrote a work in three books on divergences between the gospels. Books 1 and 2 were directed to a certain Stephanus, and dealt mainly with disagreements between the genealogy of Jesus given in Matthew and Luke. Book 3 was addressed to an equally unknown Marinus and discussed problems at the end of the gospels. It is well known as documenting the various endings of Mark then found in manuscripts, and what an educated man of that period thought about this.

As such, I would have thought that this work would be of interest to quite a lot of people, atheist or Christian. But no translation exists.

Some months ago I decided to do an experiment and see if I could pay some people to translate it for us. The idea is to see if one could cover the cost by selling copies of the printed text, and, if this covers the cost, place it online eventually. There might be more works translated the same way, if that works out.

Today the epitome was completed! We now have a complete translation of that part of the text, which is about half of it.

Cost so far has been $1,800 (at 10c a word), which is quite a bit out of my pocket. Thankfully various people have expressed interest in purchasing the printed version when it becomes available, and I will announce this later this year or whenever.

In case anyone would like to help before then, I've also set up a Paypal Donate button on the page where the project materials (PDF's of the Greek, etc) are. All contributions very welcome!

All the best,

Roger Pearse
