Unfortunately, sinful men have transmitted the works of God, and the Jewish and Christian Scriptures have become corrupted. The Holy Qur'an is God's final and uncorrupted testament to mankind.

More succinctly, what he's doing is flaming.

I think it is a reasonably fair question. However, since I don't look for "contradictions in the quran" it is a bit out of my bailiwick.

One point I do emphasize is that there is a type of scripture schizophrenia in islamic thought. They build much on the Tanach and NT, a lot of their views apparently depend on actual stories and histories therein (much of which is not in the quran), they talk of "people of the book" , and then they accuse the Tanach and NT of being abjectly corrupt, and that one should take the difference in the quran as the true stories. Putting them in an awkward position. Their deity did not even remotely preserve his word, and we have absolutely no trace of the proclaimed true manuscripts he might have given before the seventh century AD.

ie They have no textual evidences for their theories. Such as manuscirpts of the NT and Tanach that match the quran differences.

However it is the basic fundamental difficulty of proclaiming that their deity gave a corrupted text that really is fundamental. For this reason, apparently, they are actually far more anxious to find NT 'errors' than even the skeptics and anti-mish, in a very consumed fashion.

Which manuscripts might you expect to find from before the seventh century AD?

Do you think it is important to have reliable manuscripts from ,say, the first 300 years after the events described in them?

No, I think perhaps he is deliberately seeking to demonstrate how Quranic fundamentalist hermeneutics are as daft as Christian ones.

Allah gave to men perfect testimony in the Hebrew Bible and New Testament. This testimony was corrupted by sinful men. It is only Allah's final, uncorrupted testament, delivered via his greatest prophet, Mohammed (pbuh), which remains perfect.

Okay, here are a few contradictions for you:

Have some of the passages in the Qu'ran been abrogated?
No, The Qu'ran is perfect and can never be abrogated:
  • 6:34 "There is none to alter the decisions of Allah."
  • 6:115 "Perfected is the Word of thy Lord in truth and justice. There is naught that can change His words."
  • 10:64 "There is no changing the Words of Allah."
  • 18:27 "And recite that which hath been revealed unto thee of the Scripture of thy Lord. There is none who can change His words."

Yes, some verses have been abrogated:
  • 2:106 "Nothing of our revelation (even a single verse) do we abrogate or cause be forgotten, but we bring (in place) one better or the like thereof."
  • 16:101 "And when We put a revelation in place of (another) revelation, - and Allah knoweth best what He revealeth - they say: Lo! thou art but inventing. Most of them know not."
How many angels talked to Mary?
One:
  • 19: 16-19 "And make mention of Mary in the Scripture, when she had withdrawn from her people to a chamber looking East, And had chosen seclusion from them. Then We sent unto her Our Spirit and it assumed for her the likeness of a perfect man. She said: Lo! I seek refuge in the Beneficent One from thee, if thou art God- fearing. He said: I am only a messenger of thy Lord, that I may bestow on thee a faultless son."
More than one:
  • 3: 42 "And when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah hath chosen thee and made thee pure, and hath preferred thee above (all) the women of creation."
  • 3: 45 "(And remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah)."
What was man made from?
Water:
  • 25:54 "And He it is Who hath created man from water..."
  • 24:45 "Allah hath created every animal of water."

A Clot
  • 96:1-2 "In the name of thy Lord Who createth ... man from a clot."

Clay or Mud
  • 15:26 "We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered...."
  • 32:7 "He began the creation of man from clay."
  • 38:71 "When thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am about to create a mortal out of mire."
  • 55:14 "He created man of clay like the potter's."

Dust
  • 30:20 "And of His signs is this: He created you of dust, and behold you human beings, ranging widely!"
  • 35:11 "Allah created you from dust...."

He is most definitely not flaming. The last time we were out at a bar together, he was learing at EVERY woman that walked by....
