I will be screaming at my host. (On the inside.)

They might have wanted the SSL bill paid.

1) Is that useful to you?

2) How much?

It's what allows the secure server to run, which is what allows me to take orders for the "CD-ROM" product. Ya, fairly useful.

The annual bill for the server is not insignificant--about $1200. Add $100 for the SSL bill biannually. I paid the former but not the latter, and then they shut me off...grr.

Why so expensive?

I see no reason. It is a scam. Move your site to another provider.

What about paying 120 Euro/year?

No, it's not a scam. I own the box. It's not cheap, but not a scam either. I don't want "virtual hosting" / "shared hosting."

I'd be willing to contribute something to help you with the bill. I'm sure others would too. Let us know whet we can do.

I'd feel wrong about taking donations since the sale of the "CD-ROM" does exceed the $100 per month it takes to pay the hosting bill.

If you would like to support the site, I would suggest ordering the Early Jewish and Early Christian CD-ROMs when the site comes back up, along with the Early Latin Writings CD-ROM when Chris Weimer and I make that available.

Look upon those who contribute as "patrons", not donors.

How much will they be?
