Unhappy Second Face on Shroud

According to this article:

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/4750663/?GT1=3256

Researchers have found a second face on the back of the Shroud of Turin. The researchers used "mathematical and optical techniques" in examining the image, and say that this makes the case for forgery much more difficult.

I don't understand how the case for forgery is made more difficult--especially if the face does in fact match the one on the front of the shroud--but the article made for some... (insert appropriate adjective here) reading.

And third thread today on this topic!

There's a freeper thread here.

The original paper can be downloaded here after you create an account: The double superficiality of the frontal image of the Turin Shroud

So, any rebuttals to the points raised in that thread?

'cos the infidel side seems pretty weak there, and I'm kinda curious on all this.
