Ocellus Lucanus' text (1831) - ok to scan?
Greetings all,
The book of Ocellus Lucanus "On the Nature of the Universe" came up in another thread, and Earl Doherty noted he had no access to a copy. (A rather obscure and early work - maybe around Pythagoras' time, Archytas mentions him.) I have a printed copy, published by the Philosophical Research Society in 1976. It is a facsimile reprint of the original 1831 translation by Thomas Taylor. I am pretty sure that makes the original facsimile text out-of-copyright, so I will go ahead and scan it. Please let me now if I am mistaken about that. I'll post images, saves on errors in CR. (Amazing what the 'net is doing for document research - I saw a fascinating page recently with facsimiles of the earliest Shakespeare quartos - they appear to be actor's crib sheets, highly variant, later collected and printed - a great site for Shakespeare Mythers :-) Iasion |
