Default Is The Bible an Esoteric book?

So this is the question:
Is the Bible an esoteric book? Is it allegoric? Or is it a historical account of
what actually took place? Could it be...both? Yes? No? Maybe?...Why?

The Bible is an anthology of many pieces of writing, in many genres, including those mentioned in the OP.
