Slavery and the Bible: resource
We argue about this topic from time to time. Semeia had a special issue devoted to it. The archive is here with issues on several different topics. This journal was once an SBL journal and is now a book series. Top stuff!

It never ceases to amaze me that doctrines designed to maintain slavery (such as those found in the sacrificial doctrines of Judaism and the alleged "non-violence" doctrine incorrectly "exegeted" from Christianty) are usually the ones most embraced by slaves.
