The Bible mentions a nation called the Hittites(sp?). Supposedly archeologists claimed at one time that this nation never existed. They eventually found proof of it. The Bible is true! Praise Jebus!

There is supposedly evidence of a major conquest of Canan around the time the Bible claims Israel entered the promised land. There is also supposed to be evidence that the walls of Jerico fell down around this time, although I know this is very controversial.

They can also point out that many of the minor characters(Pilate, the various Herods, ect.) mentioned in the Gospels and Acts were also mentioned by secular authors (usually Josephus). Jesus talked to Pilate, Pilate existed, so Jesus exists and the resurection actually happened.

Of course, the movie Pearl Harbor included real historical figures like Yamamoto and FDR, so I guess this proves Ben Affleck's and Josh Hartnett's characters were real. They had a conversation with General Billy Mitchell, Mitchell existed, so they must exist. There was also an episode of Star Trek TNG were they traveled back in time and met Samuel Clemens. I guess Picard and Data must also be real based on this logic.

However, according to Finkelstein in "The Bible Unearthed", there is no evidence for this major conquest. It is that of a gradual cultural change as the Israilites emerge from the Canaanites. And the walls of Jericho were abandone long before the Jews showed up...

Fikelstein is a lying nonbeliever who's trying to discredit the Bible. True (ie. evangelical Christian) archeologists have proven him wrong. So there!

I think Dargo was just being sarcastic

This is a strangely inactive thread. Where's Magus55 with his heaps of archeological evidence that prove the bible is inerrant?
*still waiting patiently*

I think I remember starting a thread like this when I first began posting here. Never got any replies either. So I went out and bought The Bible Unearthed. Good read, that.

I really wish someone would respond though, with this theistic evidence. I keep hearing people brag about the AMAZING BOUNTIFUL archaeological evidence, but never actually hear any of the actual evidence.

Grumble.

My Fundy said he heard of evidence of the Red sea parting.......remains of battle gear or something like that. I can't find anything on it and he certainly won't be looking for it......he tends to want me to "disprove" everything.......how do you deal with someone like that?
