Yeah, but most of those species are insects, requiring much less than 1 cubic foot.

Years ago, I did a back of the envelope calculation on how much space would actually be required, and came up with an answer that was actually less than the volume of the ark, assuming it was just a hollow shell with all the animals just piled in there. Of course of you DID just pile 'em all in there, the density would no longer be less than the density of the surrounding water, and the boat would sink. I'm thinking that's the least concern with this approach.
