Default My Response/Review of Earl Doherty's Top 20 Silences

Mr. Doheryt's arguments against a historical Jesus are found here: http://www.jesuspuzzle.com/ I think his views that get the most attention are those with regard to the silences in the early Christian writings which he would not expect given an assumption of a historical Jesus as found in the gospels.

I have just completed a response to each of his top 20 silences, and welcome any feedback. My response can be found here:

I"ve gotten a couple of comments that the font is too small, so I'm in the process of making it bigger. Please let me know if the new one is ok before I get too far )), as it is a pain to do with the webbuilder I'm using.. I'm planning to use the size found on the home page that this link takes you too. Is that ok?

If you can, please set your font size of the main text to "4" (CSS "medium"). Right now, it's at "2" (CSS "x-small").

Fortunately, Firefox has an option to strip all formatting from web pages when viewing.

I haven't read your whole set of pages, but I must say that I particularly liked your decision to summarize the various historical Jesuses according to Paul, 1 Peter, 1 John, Hebrews, the Didache, and 1 Clement in your conclusion. Regardless of the merits concerning particular details in your summations (which, in my admittedly cursory glance, I did not see anything noticeably out of whack), your decision to treat each of these potential sources independently on their own terms is refreshing.

(By the way, which letters attributed to Paul did you use for your Pauline HJ?)

Thanks Stephen.. I can't tell what sizes the webbuilder is giving me--but I'm changing the main font size to a bigger one--the same size as is on the home page. Is that still too small?

For Pauls' HJ I used Rom, 1&2 Cor, Gal, Phil, 1 Thess, and Colossians.

The font is still a little small, but Firefox helps me out.

Thanks for listing the letters supporting the Pauline HJ reconstruction. I'm curious to see what it would like without Colossians, whose Paulinity is more controversial than the others in the list. Perhaps, the items supported only by Colossians could be put into parentheses or brackets.

I see now from another computer that the font is still fairly small. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. It is much larger on my own computer. Maybe I'll make it bigger again soon..

Here's what I got from Colossians:

Colossians, 4 chapters
* His blood associated with the cross 1:20
* His body of flesh died 1:21
* In his body dwells deity 2:9
* Nailing associated with the cross 2:14

Only the last two have no other corroberation.

I've found a number of dumb grammatical errors, and poorly worded sentences, and am going through and making corrections. So far have covered 1-13, and the conclusion. Should finish the others in a day or two...

Just kidding, I guess. I've increased the font size again so it is more readable.

I must admit to being surprised at the lack of response. Should I have cussed Doherty out or something?
