I know, it's an old question [Cain's Wife], but I think it's a new thought:
Who was Cain's Wife?
Ok, let's take a look at Cain's famous wife in Genesis. 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. That's ok, I guess...right? 4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. Um...did I hear that correctly? 4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. What? That just plain... doesn't... make... any... sense? How could Cain have a wife if... anyone finding him should kill him?? That means Cain's wife should've killed Cain, but nowhere does it say that!! And you can't say that Lamech killed Cain (4:23), because, as noted above, Cain's wife should've killed Cain! Cain should not have had a child in the first place!! |

Looks like BC&H gets the 'Cain's wife' threads, so off it goes.

To further clarify on a point already mentioned:
lest: for fear that; so that (one) should not (used negatively to introduce a clause expressive of an action or occurrence requiring caution): He kept his notes by his side lest faulty memory lead him astray. |

Sorry bout the misinterpretation.
It's very hard to interpret the Bible correctly these days! I still don't get why vengeance should be taken sevenfold though... |

Fabulous name for a band (Avenged Sevenfold), though, and they just happen to be playing in Anchorage this Thursday. |
