God will laugh at your misfortunes?
In proverbs 1:24-33, atheists think it means that God will laugh at your misfortunes, mock you when you are afraid, and ignore you when you ask him for help. And if you seek him, you will not find him....but so what?, in proverbs 24-26 it says "Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof"...so what's so horrible about this?, they didn't listen to god no matter how hard god tried for them Seriously, why do you use that as an argument? |

An atheist cannot logically use one word of the Bible to say things about a god, since an atheist believes the Bible is merely the product of the human imagination, which does not know about any gods.

And I've never seen a single instance of that verse being used as an argument to disprove God (to the best of my recollection). So I doubt anyone here will be interested in defending its use - since no-one here uses it as far as I can tell. Do you have examples of people using it that you can quote? |

A quick google for "proverbs 1:24-33" seems to list only theistic sites.
Anyway, welcome to IIDB Nergel. Will you be staying around or are you just passing through? Luxie :wave: |

This verse is about the quest for knowledge, in my humble opinion. |

Theists need to realize that atheists raise questions about the Bibles for many varied reasons. Atheist that I know don't take any of the Bibles too seriously, as they are pretty much a joke if read from beginning to end. Maybe when all the religions that believe in Gods settle their differences there might be something to prove, but till you do, I'll just enjoy being me. |

"If you think god isn’t happy about casting people into hell why does he say in proverbs that he will laugh at you while he does it?" Can you please explain what I don't understand about this? |

... has a good sense of humour, but got this particular verse wrong. "Wisdom" will laugh at your misfortunes, not God. There are plenty of other verses in the bible showing God getting satisfaction from the destruction of humans, but this does not happen to be one of them. |
