last 2,000 years of Bible scholarship
I am interested in the Jewish-Christian debate about quotes in the Hebrew Bible. What do Bible scholars today know that Bible scholars 2,000 years ago did not know about the Hebrew Bible relevant to the Jewish-Christian debate? From what I understand, scholars can't use the Isaiah scrolls from the Dead Sea Scrolls to prove if "almah" in Isaiah 7:14 means "virgin" or not. They can't use the scrolls to identify the subject of Isaiah 53. I heard they have a fragment of Psalm 22 that is controversial, but it was written after Christianity existed, so it is not great proof about if the psalm said "they pierced" (my hands and my feet) or "like a lion (my hands and my feet)."
Does anyone have any idea if anything relevant to this debate has been discovered in the last 2,000 years? Thank you. Kenneth Greifer |
