Default What about Galations 6:10?

Galations 6:10 says "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." What exactly does this verse mean, and why doesn't God do good especially for Christians?

It is addressed to the members of the Galatian community. So the "we" is them and Christians in general (hence the household bit). God doesn't feature in it, except in the background. It is a general admonition to be good community members.

There are two questions here.

1. What exactly does this verse mean?

A. I am not sure what the difficulty is. It seems clear that where Paul says to Christians, "..let us do good unto all men..." he means exactly that. Where Paul says, "...especially unto them who are of the household of faith," he means that. There is the implication that immature Christians were taking advantage of other Christians in ways that they would never think to do to a non-Christian.

2. Why doesn't God do good especially for Christians?

A. As far as I am aware, God does. There may be exceptions to the rule, but I think God is doing good to all people but especially to Christians.

The speaker is not God, but Paul. What Paul is saying, in context, is:

"Listen, stop squabbling among yourselves. The important thing is to be excellent to each other. If you do that, God will have your back. The circumcised Christians should stop feeling superior to the uncircumcized Christians, and vice versa. God wants us to treat everybody decently, so the least you can do is stop fighting with other Christians over something as trivial as this!"

I'm not sure what this has to do with what any given god might or might not do.
