Default Answers to Skeptical Claims about the Bible

A few weeks back, we got into a discussion about how Judas died. I did not look on a Christian apologists site. I figured out the answer myself and the skeptics laughed at me all the way to Disneyworld.

Here is what the Apologetics site says:
http://www.apocalipsis.org/difficulties/judas.htm

I think this is a rather convincing argument. It does not say Judas DIED by falling headlong, just that he DID fall headlong. If the Bible had said "Judas died by falling headlong and his guts spilled out" then we would have a contradiction.

There is a list of all the other "skeptical claims" that are all answered accordingly and decisively. I look forward to it.

well just briefly reading the part about 'the lord hardenign pharoahs heart this passage jumped out at me:
Quote:
There is a hint of mercy, God could have completely destroyed the Egyptians, but only destroyed the firstborn males.
mercy means only killing the first born males? wow. how merciful and kind.

also this bit is written in the sumary
Quote:
God had told Abraham 400 years earlier that his descendants would be mistreated and that God would punish the nation they served.
now if god knew this why did he bother with the first 9 plagues which he knew would beunsuccessful. why not jump straight to the (merciful) killing of all the first born sons of egypt.

Half-Life - how can all your guts spill out and not die? Seems way too ludicrous to be considered a standard reading. Applied to any other ancient text and we'd have a contradiction. Only an a priori bias that affirms the inerrancy of the text would lead one to conclude such nonsense. So what's your excuse?

The point is he hung himself and died and THEN his intestines poured out. I do not see a contradiction.

He can't have hung himself according to the Acts passage. It sais he fell headlong. It would take some type of other force for a body that is hung from the neck to be made to fall headfirst.

Acts doesn't say he hung himself, it just says he fell headlong (something which would be impossible if he was hanging by his neck) and then his guts blew up. It also doesn't say he was already dead. Quite clearly the implication is that he died by exploding.

By the way, can you tell me who bought the field?

Half-life,
It is unbelieveably rude to post questions on a forum and then not respond to the scholarship offered to you. We reply to your questions in good faith, and you ignore our arguments. How about a reply to one of you abandoned threads? Read the few posts written since you abandoned this post and reply. If you cannot, I don't see why you should continue to open new threads, only to abandon them when you are challanged.

Boy, I can't believe it's been 3 months since I started this thread! It seems like it was just yesterday.

But you guys fail to see the point:

Let's say you tell your child, "If you do X, I'm going to spank you." If your child does it, you spank the child and say, "OK, I gave you a chance but you refused to listen. You chose to get spanked."

No parent would disagree with this. This is how a lot of parents punish their kids (although amybe not with a spanking but picture your own punishment you would give your child).

Do you see the point?
This reply shows clearly that you have not read the responses to your post. How can you write

When first I spied you post in gobsmacked wonder
Considered all the words thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
My head fills up at such chicanery displayed.

Then tap my keys, my keyboard keys for thee.
How sad you are. How sad you are.
Then tap my keys, my keyboard keys for thee.
How sad you are. How sad you are

Obviously Judas wasn't hanging by the neck then. He tried to invent bungee jumping but got the length of the rope wrong.
