Ok, now try Matthew 4:8. No mention of a "dream" or a "vision" in this one... how'd he see Japan or South America (where there were great kingdoms at the time) from the top of a mountain of ANY height?

How is using firmament as a metaphorical description, an error?
Oh, so NOW it's figurative! How does a person tell which utterly absurd passages are figurative, and which utterly absurd passages actually happened? The firmament is at LEAST as idiotic Noah's Flood in terms of plausibility.

Care to explain this little gem in a reply to me a few pages back, Magus?

Mageth, i'm really getting tired of your arguments of "its not real, its all a myth". You haven't shown any reason that it is, other than you disagree with it. You don't know everything, so stop acting like you know for a fact its not real when you have no freakin clue. Until you die, you will not know who is right. So cut the arrogance and "know-it-all" complex.

I found that both obnoxious and insulting.

And this reply, from above, classifies as sarcastic:

And apparently you have a reading problem.

DON'T YOU EVER READ WHAT I SAY?! A firmament is NOT an expanse! It's a solid covering! The Hebrew word for it, raqiya', comes from a root meaning "to beat a sheet". It's not metaphorical. The Bible SAYS CLEARLY, that holes (windows) in the firmament were opened to let the Flood waters down for Noah's Flood. Holes can hardly be opened in an expanse, can they?

The Bible says, in a plain reading of it, that above our heads is a solid dome protecting us from a water reservoire ("waters above the firmament"). You can't claim the Bible speaks metaphorically just because a plain reading doesn't suit you. Take what the Bible says at face value, and believe in a solid dome if you're consistent!

Soundless sound. When you understand the paradox, you will "know" *snigger*
I do understand quite well. I understand that since you lack content you are trying to pass by being vague and mysterious.
Now you try to understand that you aren't fooling anyone here.

I am not looking for Jesus, I was looking for the "heaven"
Then try flying by the power of thought.

this because the "idea" of heaven doesn't match what you see in "reality"?
No it's because you match the reality of someone who isn't telling the truth very closely.

The attitude is ONLY relevant, if I didn't believe in an afterlife. I DO! Since I do believe in an afterlife, I have great respect for Life and humanity. Given that all is one, what I do to you, I do unto myself!
But to you human life is of value only in relation to this after life story and not intrinsically on it's own, or you would have never asked such a question to begin with

No, this is what you see in what I write.
It's what I see in the writing of many Theists. I find it disgusting.

It does. But you won't believe me, because apparantly you are clairvoyant and know that I am lying to you!
I have no super natural powers at all. But I do have the ability to read English; that's all anyone needs to see how honest you are.

But the content you want can only be found in a epiphany.

Because that truth doesn't match with yours. Thats fair enough

You try to seperate and divide what intrinsically can't be divided.
When I stopped trying to divide and seperate things, things made sense to me. Human life is just as "real" in the afterlife, and so it's value is the same as it is now.

Again, my honesty is based on the experiences I have had and the life I have. Would you have me lie about what I have experienced so it fits with your standard of what is truth and what is not?

Since you haven't had my experiences, how can you honestly say I am lying?

The content I want is honesty and truth. However you have made it quite clear that having belief in god excuses one from that.

Because that truth doesn't match with yours. Thats fair enough
What's fair enough is that there aren't separate truths. I make no claims that what I say is the truth is beyond verification. You cannot tell falsehoods and then expect to get away with passing them off as "higher truths."

You try to seperate and divide what intrinsically can't be divided.
When I stopped trying to divide and seperate things, things made sense to me. Human life is just as "real" in the afterlife, and so it's value is the same as it is now.

But only in relation to your silly after life. You've already declared that life taken on it's own is senseless to you without an after life. Your problem is that you have stopped trying to divide fact and fiction because you prefer fiction.

Again, my honesty is based on the experiences I have had and the life I have. Would you have me lie about what I have experienced so it fits with your standard of what is truth and what is not?
No I would be delighted if you would stop lying. My standard of truth is pretty low. But you seem to have no standard at all. You'll claim whatever the hell you please with not a qualm if it's real or not.:banghead:

Since you haven't had my experiences, how can you honestly say I am lying?
Because I can compare what you say to known facts.

I still want to know what conciousness is exactly, and where it is located.
Well, why don't you study the human brain scientifically? I'm sure there are many schools that have curricula in the sciences relating to the study of the human brain.

You could study, and eventually get a research position. One day, you may actually find out "what consciousness is exactly and where it is located".

I think there would be a Nobel Prize in it.

The lack of respect you show for humanity
Yes because having thousands of murders, rapes, muggings etc. etc., or rich people buying 8 cars, while 4 year olds are starving to death in a third world country, are really respectable actions. Humanity is disgusting and doesn't deserve respect.
