Review of Eusebius, "Gospel problems and solutions"
I think people may remember that I commissioned a translation of Eusebius of Caesarea's "Gospel problems and solutions", which is otherwise untranslated? This was published last year, and reviews are now starting to appear. I know some in this group have followed progress of this project, so may be interested in the reviews?
There's a review at Bryn Mawr here. There's also a review in the Journal of Theological Studies this month by Paul Foster, which isn't online. All the best, Roger Pearse |

Congratulations, Roger. And it's a relatively good review for your purposes. Here's to breaking ahead!

Thanks: doing my bit, Stephan...
The translation will appear online one day, as I have always said, once I've managed to sell enough copies to recover the costs. And thank you, Spin: it is a good review, I gather from feedback. The reviewer is a rather serious scholar, as may be gathered from his knowledge of Greek, Latin, Syriac and Coptic (I never knew that such a linguistic prodigy existed: although even then I still beat him by including some Arabic! heh). So his opinion is very kind. So ... I am very gratified that the translators clearly did a good job. The good bits are not my minor editorial contributions, of course, but rather the work of David Miller, Adam McCollum, Carol Downer and the UCL Coptic Reading group. Especially Dr Miller, who rescued me from some rather unfortunate OCR errors in the Latin. Thank you everyone who encouraged me, or has bought a copy (it's on Amazon, in case anyone wonders). All the best, Roger Pearse |

Hi Roger,
I've said this before, but I'll repeat: You did a really professional editing job on this book. As a token of support, I just now ordered my copy direct from Chieftain. I'm looking forward to seeing it when it eventually finds its way here from far off Ipswich. DCH Quote:

Inspiring Roger !
Well done !! The mystery of the nature of christian origins is like a four dimensional jig-saw puzzle that is, at its atomic level, composed from the myriad (database) ancient historical evidence in its literary and archaeological forms. Your contributions to this database are exemplary in today's world. I have no hesitation in praising one of my harshest critics in the production of another valuable resource. Best wishes Pete |

I am very grateful to you all -- including you, Mountainman: thank you --, and especially those who are buying copies. It brings closer the day when I can release it online.
