Favorite Bible Verses
Tim Russert sprang a completely off the wall question at a recent Democratic debate - "What is your favorite Bible verse?"
For the record, this is what the candidates came up with (thanks to sarahinchicago at Daily Kos: Dennis Kucinich’s (Prayer of St. Francis of Assissi) Quote:
John Edwards (Matthew 18:5 or Matthew 25:37): Quote:

Chris Dodd (Luke 10:25-37): Quote:

Joe Biden (Luke 11:37-54 or Luke 2:41-52 or other): Quote:
No one picked Ezekiel 25:17 (via Pulp Fiction) Quote:

And it seems sarahinchicago was being generous in finding a Bible verse to fit the vague answer that some of these candidates came up with.
transcript. Mike Gravel only said "love," but did not quote Paul or I Corinthians by name. |

They came up with systems of theology. This is done by emphasisng some verses and playing down others. If one wants an external authority in the form of scared writings, then one needs to be able to point to the verses one prefers. ..Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself in what he approves" Romans 14:22(b) "Everything is permissable.....but not everything is beneficial" 1 Corinthians 10:22 "The Father judges no one..." John 5:22 |

If you hear the President of the USA say this:
'What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.' 1 Co 14:26 NIV you're dreaming. |

For a crowd of politicians and media?
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.--1Cor 13:1 |

I don't remember where they are, nor do I know if they are exact quotes, but. . .
