Question Info on Ralph Muncaster please...

While having a "debate" with an xian the works of a "Ralph Muncaster" were brought up.

I've never heard of him, but when you google the name you get tons of xian links to the guy. According to the xian I was debating with, he was an atheist and a skeptic that went through the bible and found that it is all true .

Does anyone know more about this guy?

Thanks!

I actually purchased Mr. Muncaster's book A Skeptic's Search for God back when I was still making attempts to believe again. His claim that he was a strong atheist seems a bit of a stretch. The stories he recalls from his time of being an atheist are rife with examples of juvenile atheism, the kinds of things you typically hear coming from a new, angry atheist. That alone leads me to believe he is simply parroting a very simplistic view of atheism.

His grand proof that atheism is wrong boils down to an argument of odds. He calculated the chances of left- and right- handed something-or-others (something genetic, pardon my ignorance) developing due to "random chance" (another creationist strawman) as some astronomically high number, and from that concluded that Goddidit. I kind of enjoyed the book up until that point. I came back here at the time to the Science forum for a dose of reality and threw the damn book away.

Sorry, Ralph.

Smile Reading Arguments for God

I once decided to read "The Case for Christ" (Lee Strobel) after I had become an Atheist simply because I wanted to see what the "case book" arguments would be.

I had a very difficult time getting through the first chapter - mainly because it was just so sappy. There was not one logical argument made, it was only appeals to emotion and appeals to authority .

After marveling at the succinct logic of "Atheism: The Case Against God" it was quite a disappointment.

Thanks for your reply!
