There are not many Samaritans left, and I am a long way from Israel. Would be interesting to sit down with them and chat about the Old Days.

Not especially good ones, unfortunately. I am trying to get some intercession from friends in Israel to visit the small surviving Samaritan community to see if the information can't be bolstered. At this point I freely confess to being in pretty speculative territory.

The dating and the anti-pharisical, anti-Temple rhetoric that would have been part of Samaritan belief certainly fit with common elements of BJ.

In other words, an epiphany is only an epiphany if it shakes our earthly thoughts. Sounds about right offa.

There you go, and Simon Magnus helped Jesus carry the cross . . . for good reason, obviously, because his liberty was at [the] stake!

This is a new one for me :-) and I have visited the Samaritan community with Messianic believers from Ariel who are their friends, although we did not discuss Samaritan Messiah views on that visit. Any such traditions would make a fascinating historical study.
