Yes, Spanky, because you've really raised the level of discourse in the thread, haven't you?

_ _ _ _ _ _ _!
Sorry Chris, when it comes to posting you definitely don't have the Midas touch. A person can only handle so much. Others are stooping to your level. I just felt the need to intercede! |

In view of the fact that the problems on this thread resulted, not from my comment itself, but the nature of the reaction indulged in by others, I feel that Chris Weimer and through him Jeffrey Gibson should not be allowed the last word. Since I realize I won’t be given that last word here, I am posting it on my website at the following URL. Those interested can take a look for themselves. Naturally, there will be no further discussion allowed here, and that’s probably best.

"It is as if a pedestrian took one step off the curb when the “Don’t Walk” sign was flashing and a couple of bully cops descended on him to beat him black and blue. When the hapless fellow pleads, “I’m guilty! I’ll pay the fine,” they haul him off to a backroom cell to finish the job." Please, Earl. You didn't say "I'm guilty!" You whined and complained and avoided the question. When finally you admitted you used "hyperbole", you denigrated both me and Jeffrey in the process, as if for some reason we ought not to have pointed out your mistake. Oh no! Save Earl! We dun't want no one pointin' out his errors... Actually, I just finished reading that. Earl, my advice to you is drop Biblical studies and go into fiction. Isn't that what "The Jesus Puzzle" is anyway? |

Nobody Expects the Spanish Inquisition
Hi Chris,
I, too, found it funny watching Earl being beaten with whoopie cushions. But I think its time for someone to yell, "Fetch the comfy chair!" Warmly, Philosopher Jay Quote:

Oh please, "professor". Being beaten? Is that what the mythicist community calls being corrected these days?

I don't post much here in BC&H because I don't have the background or knowledge to take on these deep topics, but I do read a lot and learn new stuff every day. What seems evident to me, and I did read your comment, is that some people can not or will not consider the possibility of Jesus being just a myth or fictional character and will go to any length to try to discredit those who dare to suggest it may be so. I have spent a lot of time reading about the topic, both from Mountainmans perspective and from your own perspective and I find it refreshing that so many now have the balls to go out and question the historicity of Jesus. For me, such an exercise is a natural and long overdue process, and kudos to all of you who do research and dare to speak out. I would rather thank you and all the others who do question the issue, inasmuch as the treatment from christians are similar to what Gallileo and others who dared question church doctrine, received, albeit in a more modern shape or form. It is a much needed research and work being done and by people who have to endure never ending ridicule. Rest assured that quite a few of us actually are grateful for yours and others hard work in the area. |
