Huh?!? I thought corn was a new world grain. How does this verse actually translate?

Corn=whatever grain grows locally. In Europe, it's usually wheat or barley; in America, it's usually maize.

That looks like KJV language, and the Brits use the word "corn" to refer to grain in general.

NIV has "If you enter your neighbor's grainfield, you may pick kernels with your hands, but you must not put a sickle to his standing grain."
