"Last Of All He was Seen by Me"
In the Pauline writings a Pauline writer gave a list of those who supposedly ACTUALLY saw Jesus after he was RAISED from the dead.
The list can be found in 1 Cor. 15 Quote:
1. The risen Jesus was seen by Cephas. 2. The risen Jesus was seen by the twelve. 3. The risen Jesus was seen by over five hundred brethren at once 4. The risen Jesus was seen by James 5. The risen Jesus was seen by all the apostles. 6. And last of all the risen Jesus was seen by the Pauline writer. It must be noted that no Gospel author in the NT Canon seemed to be aware of the Pauline list. No author of the Gospels used the Pauline list as found in 1 Corinthians 15 which suggests the list was LATE. But, there is also a point that is overlooked and it that the list is not about hallucinations or dreams about Jesus. The list is about those who supposedly ACTUALLY SAW Jesus after he was RAISED from the dead. Examine Mark 16.6-8, the visitors to the tomb are told that Jesus was RISEN but the statement was of little consolation to them. The visitors FLED from the tomb TREMBLING with FEAR. ONLY one thing can help. The visitors MUST ACTUALLY SEE the RISEN Jesus alive. Now, continue to Mark 16.9-11, Mary Magdalene SEES Jesus and tells the disciples who are in TEARS but they STILL do NOT believe. ONLY one thing can help. The disciples MUST ACTUALLY SEE the RISEN Jesus alive. Look at Mark 12-13, two persons SEE Jesus and tell the disciples but they still do NOT believe. The disciples MUST ACTUALLY SEE the RISEN Jesus. Now, read Mark 16.14-20, it was the supposed ACTUAL sighting of the RISEN Jesus that made the difference. It was when they ACTUALLY SAW Jesus that they stopped CRYING and began to PREACH the GOSPEL. The Gospel of Jesus could NOT have been PREACHED if the RISEN JESUS did NOT actually visit the disciples and talk to them. A Pauline writer is on the LIST of those who ACTUALLY SAW the RISEN Jesus. 1 Cor. 15.8 Quote:
NOBODY ACTUALLY SAW THE RISEN JESUS. The Pauline writer has become a victim of his own lies. |

Some of those "witnesses", I'm sure, were consumers of cannabis [very popular in those days, to alleviate common pains].
Paul was happily smoking hashish on the road to Damascus, and naturally had to have a vision like everybody else, what the hell! ALL those who saw Jesus are UNRELIABLE witnesses. Therefore - imagine! - an Almighty God with such a flimsy plan where he had to depend on those drug addicts to witness the major event of history, had no better plan!! That puts me off as a possible proselyte, I'm sorry. Don't even try. I would like to believe Jesus left the tomb and went to heaven if the witnesses had sure credibility. So far - twenty centuries later - the credibility is bellow the fantasy level! |

Now, it is the same story with the pope.
He gathers his cardenals and other agents and "legislates" that the biscuit he holds in his hand is going to be transubstantiated into the body of an obscure Jew that he believes lived somewhere in Palestine twenty centuries ago. He says that if he uses a magic litany in old Latin, the miracles will take place right while he holds the wafer, and the lot of agents and himself will have a gratifying life without having to do much effort, because illiterate people around towns and villages will give them money and goods because they will believe the Host! And off they go to gather the numbers. As soon as he gets millions of the deceived he is going to use more legislation to threaten and terrorize the conscientious objectors that call him a crook. Later, when he gets himself dressed in the sinister accoutrements he ordered from a local taylor, he will raise the Wafer in the air as far as his arms can get and demand worship to it and himself! If you don't believe his theatrics as divine stuff you are anathematized and delivered to the secular authorities for the destruction of your body in the flames at the stake. And so on, and so forth. The difference between Paul telling us he saw Jesus, and the pope telling us the biscuit is Jesus is none! |
