Satan and Lucifer
I've heard that, in the Bible, the name "Lucifer" is only mentioned once in reference to the Morning Star, a.k.a Venus, and that it is never used in reference to Satan. I've also heard that the name "Satan" doesn't refer to the devil at all, but to someone simply known as "The Adversary". So, I've got three questions:
1. Who's "The Adversary"? 2. Is there a devil such as the one we now call Satan mentioned in the Bible? 3. What about Hell? Is its existence backed up by the Bible as well? |

Without having much time to post, here's a halfway-decent starting point:
Satan: an Early History I'm sure someone will be along to provide more. |

And I hope this helps too-
http://users.aristotle.net/~bhuie/topics.htm It is actually a very good site for info on topics like this but from the 'horse's mouth'. Look at the second and third heading of The spiritual realm The topics in this section deal with:- THE HEAVENLY DIVINE COUNCIL SATAN, THE ADVERSARY OF MANKIND FALLEN ANGELS AND DEMONS GENESIS 6 - WHO WERE "THE SONS OF GOD"? WHO OR WHAT IS "THE ANTICHRIST"? WHO IS THE "DESTROYER"? THE GOAT FOR AZAZEL But then there could be much better sites out there, but this helped me. |
