Default The Flood was a drought

I've just learned that at the time the Great Flood was supposed to have occurred there was actually a major drought going on throughout the Middle East.

The people were desperate and yearned for floods ... to renew their civilisations.

Egypt descended into anarchy for a while ... servants refusing to obey their masters, sort of thing.

Maybe somebody reasoned:

Is God angry with us and is storing up the rain so that he can flood the whole Earth?

Metaphorically I see the word Flood in the Genesis story as referring to social disorder ... angry people flooding into the streets, sort of thing.

But, I see a kind of "ethnic cleansing". Only certain people must live. The "God people" must live. If you examine the Bible only the "God people" are to be saved. You must be from the "tribe of God" or you will executed by whatever means and then be punished without end in the other world.

I've never heard of such a thing. Where did you get this information about the drought?

It it's true it would make a great chapter in my book "YHWH on Management"

There's going to be a drought, so have Noah build an ark, etc.

And somehow the Egyptians kept building pyramids through the Old Kingdom thru the Middle Kingdom and never seem to have realized that they had all been drowned.
