Book recommendations - "end times" stuff
Do you have recommendations for some good books summarizing the scholarly work on Daniel, Revelation, and other parts of the Bible (e.g. some bits of Ezekiel) the "end times" fanatics try to twist into prophecies of our contemporary world? They could be books (or articles) on just one of the Bible books such as Daniel viewed just as the book of Daniel and not in the context of current prophecy freaks, or books that specifically address the prophecy freaks (though I'd prefer the former).
I know the general outline that Daniel was written in the time of the Maccabees, that it has historical anachronisms etc revealing its time of authorship, that it is about Antiochus etc, but I'd like a good relatively brief but comprehensive summary of the scholarship showing that. Ditto with Revelation being about first century Rome. And whatever Ezekiel meant by e.g. Gog and Magog (which, when I was a kid in the 1970s, was supposed by end times freaks to be a clear reference to the Soviet Union and East Germany -- oops) and the other usual rapture-ready suspects. |

Preteristvision is a christian site (so may not be what you are looking for), but it has a lot of online stuff which may still be helpful.
