Another "church fathers" question
Is it true that church historians from ancient times often have a certain church father living at different time periods?

The closest I can come to mind is the gospel authors. If they really were John etc then John would probably be the oldest man living on earth at the time of him writing the gospel as his gospel was written very late 1st century or early 2nd century and most likely the latter. The gospel of Luke appears to have been written no earlier than around 90 AD and John is later than Luke. However, these gospel writers was hardly counted among the church fathers were they? Alf |

Perhaps you should give us all the context of the argument that you are having in another forum -- if that is how this arises? -- and let us see if that gives us more information. All the best, Roger Pearse |
