Contradiction? Gal. 1:1
It has been brought up before that there may be a contradiction concerning who raised Jesus from the dead, between Galatians 1:1 and John 2:19-21. I'm not so sure.
In Galatians 1:1 it says that God the Father raised Jesus Christ from the dead. However, in John 2:19-21, Jesus is claiming that he will raise himself. Is this a contradiction? Not if Jesus and the Father are both a part of the triune Godhead. While Jesus claims the recognition, he is claiming that his God-part will be doing the resurrecting (since obviously humans cannot resurrect someone). Therefore, it is not a contradiction that God the Father will resurrect Jesus and God the Son will resurrect Jesus since they are both the one Christian God. A second option is that both were involved. Neither scripture claims sole responsibility. Last week I worked on some construction. So did my dad. I told my friends that, "I worked on the building." My dad told my mom, "I worked on the building." So who worked on the building? Both of us. Since neither claims sole responsibility, there is no contradiction. |

Somehow I don't think that "resolving" this contradiction will convert anyone to Christianity.

Who were the dead that Jesus was raised from? When was he raised and with what body did he come forth?
In OT the dead were those Israelites who were separated from God and considered as though they had not been. Not being in obedience to God they were not recognized as the living. A play on words in emphasizing who was who in Israel. |

But, can people kill a real God? And for God to resurrect, he could not be dead. He was in "sleep mode" with a timer. |
