cutting back
Hello IIDB,
Any rumors that I am actually triplets or a highly sophisticated AI algorithm will have to cease, as I will no longer be able to participate in as prodigious a way as I once did, for a while to come. If you see me on the boards much at all in the next nine months, you will know I've lost sight of my objectives. What is that? (1) To complete my education and do more to secure reliable income. (2) To lose more weight and generally improve myself. (3) Sooner than later, to find a woman and to start a family. How? (1) I have applied to Fresno State for the spring, and have no doubts about transferring there. I will study computational linguistics. I will be sending the data for the Early Jewish Writings CD to the pressers, within the next two weeks if the fates allow. Ideally I would be working for some organization with deep pockets for research when I get out of school. I'll even sell myself to the NSA or Microsoft if a position is there. But I will work for Google or somesuch if possible. In the short term, I am selling off more than 200 of my books, available here: http://shops.half.ebay.com/peterkirby Contact me if you want to purchase more than a couple hundred dollars worth of books (or just get them through Half). (2) I've lost 20 pounds already, down to 180 lb. and looking to shed more. I will know I've reached my target weight when I am able to do forty pullups like I could in junior high. My secret? Don't eat out alone (or frequently), eat less overall, and take an hour long walk every other day. (3) Well I've made a date for the first time in ages, so there's hope! The best way to contact me is at peterkirby@gmail.com or through the peterkirby.com website. Oh, and why the change of priorities? Come on, I'm only young for so long! And when was the last time any of you gave me a hug and a peck on the cheek? ;-) So there it is... maybe this is more appropriate for the lounge, in which case a mod should move it there with a link (so that interested BC&H'ers can see it). Thanks for all the fun. kindest thoughts, Peter Kirby |

Best of luck.
I was looking forward to getting to know you better, but something tells me I'll be seeing you around here and there in the future. I'll also grab some of your books for sure. Thanks. edit: I just purchased 5 books (Kenneth Bellew). Thanks. |

Just wanted to say that I am a new poster but have been reading your work for ages. Thank you for the fantastic contribution thus far!
Enjoy your studies and well done on the 20lbs! Loads of confidence and female companions will follow. Cheers, RvV |

I went there some 20 years ago. Back then it was a known as a 'party college'. Although, I do believe Fresno's Linguistics Dept challenged their students more than most of the other Depts. There are several advantages to Fresno State, e.g. The cost of living is somewhat less than other areas of CA. It seems to be geared toward a student body which is working to support itself. Quote:

For many of those 18-19 year old girls, it's there first time away from home and they are looking for an 'adventure' with a guy in his 20's. :devil3: I kid you not! I started back at State when I was 24. I couldn't f*cking believe it. Talk about an ego boost! Best of luck to you Peter. |

Can't you have a life and converse with people now and then at the same time? People here date, or have families with kids, and you don't see them leaving...Fine,yes, a few kids have been left unattended, hungry, and dragging their poopied dipers all over the house. I agree that those people should take care of the home base first, but that is not your case... So dating ,a change of jobs, and a relationship with your tread mill...And you leave us for that?... Then you say that if we see you post at all here within the next 6 months we should educe that all your plans have been crushed, you have lost your mind, your date ran away with the trumped player, and now, a broken man, we have become, one again, your last resort...I know,Peter...that...making your way in the world today takes everything you've got...and taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot...but... Wouldn't you like to get away? Sometime you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came...You wanna be where you can see our troubles are all the same...You wanna be where everybody knows your name... Ok,go ahead,kid...Get lost...And come back only if you are a broken man... Someone will be here that will recognize your name...It might not be me,for dead I well may be...But I shall hear tho soft you tread above me and all my dream will warmer and sweeter be... :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: And so I bid you, adieu! |
