yummy
Interesting

It was Macoby in "Mythmaker'' who said "As it happens, it was impossible for any Jew at this time to describe himself truthfully as of the tribe of Benjamin.......this was sheer bluff" [page 96] and in a footnote he says "Only one passage has been cited to support the survival of Benjaminites in Paul's period...This cannot be regarded as historically authentic"
So...?

re suggenes and adelphos
I went to Blue Letter Bible and checked out ch16 of Romans.
First time I've done that, so take that into account.
Phoebe as sister in 16.1 is adelphos
As is brethren in 16.14 and brother in 16.23.
suggenes is used for Andronicus, Junia at 16.7 and similarly for Herodian at 16.11, and 16.21.
FF Bruce in his commentary on "Romans'' doesn't seem to attach much importance to the idea, based on Lightfoot, IIRC, that Herodian is of the Herod mob ..."my kinsman'' may simply mark him out as being of Jewish birth" page 273.
Relating names in ch 16 of Romans, which may not have been part of the original, to names in Acts is pretty speculative IMO.
And whilst most Herodians may have had Gk/Roman names it's pretty obvious that so did the Gks and the Romans.
Gotta go, my wife wants her computer.
cheers
