Thanks for the reply TC, I thought the orignal post was asking about the documentation of the afterlife, I then said something like: secular secience says you're in a hole, then I added scripture.
Quote:
1st Cor. 15.49 "And as we have born the image of the earthly, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. (50) Now this I say, breathren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. (51) Behold I shew you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we all be changed, (51) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." He won't hide, the whole world will see, and He 's not going to be a babe. He's coming to take what's His, that includes you, and me. sgary (I added the bold to the KJV) |

The biblical references (all of them) to an afterlife should be seen as metaphor. "Dust to dust" is guaranteed. It seems to me that the issue isn't whether our return to that which is will be in corporeal or 'spirit' form, but whether 'I/me' will endure. Those who reject a christian god also reject that there is an I/me afterlife. Those with who profess a christian personal god are assured that I/me will survive to meet their loved ones in heaven (or hell). Whether a corporeal or spiritual 'body', the issue is about an everlasting soul. So, do we disappear or not?

There is no afterlife, no soul and no god, we're all alone in the universe and that's just the way it is, so we might as well just get used to it. :devil3: |

And when we see a preacher begging grandma out of her rent money, at the same time telling people the world is going to end, that's the preacher I'm talking about (sorry for not making that more clear). It just seems people have lost their common sense and ability to read? And I came here to read what people (that think like me, even if they don't believe like me), are saying, to the people that teach/believe 'the world is 6,000 years old, or going to end', are saying? I guess I could have looked out the window, (but that's all clouded up with the stipid ones) but here, I can talk to someone from say..China? and that would be cool. Bunch of smart people here, and I like that! So I'm not here to convert anyone, or preach, but to gain knowledge, and "question" a preacher/teacher that would teach something like the example I used. Also to help, if I can? (back on topic) When I asked for your help, I thought you would say something like: everybody is in heaven, with a gulf dividing good/bad,and when the *age* changes, God brings it with Him, then judgment. Or say something like what BlessNot said? but untill the flesh dies, we make up our own minds? sgary. |
