Bruce Metzger dies at 93
More here
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/...ce-Metzger.php Clearly one of the most influential and proficient religious scholars of all time and his death is a great loss to the field as a whole. One wonders what will become of future edition of UBS/NA with one of the more reasonable voices gone from that committee. Bart Ehrman was one of Metzger's students at Princeton, just as an FYI. But really, critical examinations would only be beneficial in telling us which would be first if one were dependent on another. |

Sorry for the bump but I neglected to post my own sentiments when this news initially broke. I just want to add my own regrets about Dr. Metzger's passing and further endorse the acknowledgment that he was one of our greatest Biblical scholars and that his contributions should always be held in the highest esteem by theists and nontheists alike.
