Allegations of body-snatching
The first Gospel was written by somebody who knew that Christians had been battered for decades by allegations of snatching the body of the risen Jesus.
Yet he had the honesty not to mention any guard at the tomb, and to explain that people knew the tomb could be easily accessed if they only had some big strong men (perhaps fishermen?) who could roll away the stone. You have to admire the honesty of somebody charged with stealing a million dollars and who writes that it was just lying around for anybody to take.... |

But the body snatching was multiple times witnessed!
The Gospel of Peter has it that the body was snatched by two figures whose heads reached into the heavens. That the body which was snatched was alive and walking supported between these two figures, and that the head of the body reached above the heavens. These events were witnessed not just by the soldiers who guarded the tomb but also by their very very CENTURION! Additionally, the "Elders" were also woken up in order to be witesses to this act.
There was also a further witness according to the authoritative text of the gPeter, the first of the Gospels, because Peter was the first rock-head. The other witness was the CROSS itself, which ambled along after the three figures with direct contact to God in geocentric orbit above the tomb, and who talked to god "YES" as was required by history. Three cheers for history! Quote:
