Default Noah's Ark Found

So what does everyone think yet another discovery has been found on Mt Arafat as the article claims

A group of evangelical researchers claim they have found the remains of Noah's Ark thousands of feet up Mount Ararat, its biblical resting place, in Turkey. Skip related content

The exact location of the find has not been disclosed, but carbon dating conducted on wood and stone from the site has revealed their age as 4,800 years old, according to the scientists.

Further tests will be conducted on the items but one researcher claimed they were "99.9 per cent sure" the remains were that of the original Ark.

According to the Old Testament story, God commanded Noah to build the Ark to save his family and the world's animals from a global flood - sent to rid the earth of mankind's corrupt behaviour.

Same old, same old... How can they have found it, when Ron Wyatt did that years ago. Although, I think this one also has unicorns, so that makes it more real

As many bloggers have noted, it's amazing how these creationists absolutely cannot trust carbon dating, until they find one that supposedly supports their beliefs.

I also think that if the age is good, then they might have found an archaeological site, and this superstition may damage actual discoveries, if (and it's a big if) Turkey allows anything up there. I can see Ken Ham (or Harun the Yahoo) building a Noah's Ark theme park (http://www.noahsarkwaterpark.com/ - for the Wisconsin Dells park, haven't been there in over 30 years, though, and it's actually fun).

Yet they found something, if you look at the pics and videos they found something quite impressive up there. What could it be?

This mount Arafat?

...or this one

...either way, same old crap. All anyone has found on Ararat are some rocks and gift shops selling Ark trinkets.

To hell with the ark. I want to know how they carbon-dated those stones.

Scholarly Squad Debunks Biblical 'Discoveries'

Quote:
In the past, biblical scholars and archaeologists rolled their eyes when claims of a blockbuster find emerged, preferring to keep quiet rather than dignify them with a response. But scholars now worry that their silence has allowed such claims to breed, damaging the whole field's credibility.

"We said, 'We have got to find a way to respond to these amateurs,' " Cargill says. "We can have a coordinated response on behalf of the academy and say, 'No that's not true, and here's why.' And we do it in the public media and not some obscure journal that nobody reads."

Now, whenever a suspect archaeological discovery hits the headlines, the committee and its associated scholars churn into action -- reaching out to journalists, writing blog posts, sending out Twitter and Facebook alerts, and dispatching op-eds to newspapers and magazines.

It's also funny how biblical literalists only like carbon dating when it can be used to support their beliefs, but not so much when it contradicts them.

Aren't the creationists the *victims* of this story, rather than its perpetrators? Wasn't this a scam set up by some Kurds?

You well know those were Creationists, as you are, that set up the scam and others of them that carried the football to the media.
