The Gospel of Hamish

Fred Noggs came preaching a baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins. And went out to him ALL the people of the English countryside and ALL the Londoners and were baptised by him in the River Thames, and they confessed their sins.

And it came to pass came Hamish from Scotland ....

The above describes an historical event. There really was a Fred Noggs, and millions of people flocked to him when he began preaching, and Hamish really did come from Scotland.
