Eleazar the other christ?
mark 9:38 Teacher," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us."
Antiquities of the Jews Bk8; Eleazar driving out demons in the presence of Vespasian. WOJ ch 8 vs1. It was one Eleazar, a potent man, and the commander of these Sicarii, that had seized upon it. He was a descendant from that Judas who had persuaded abundance of the Jews, as we have formerly related, not to submit to the taxation when Cyrenius was sent into Judea to make one. Eleazar(the name) seems to be the historical christ that Rome fought against in the first ce. |

i dont understand the use of "historical." eleazar was never king, never recognized by the sanhedrin therefore he was not the Christ. its that simple

The other christ was not one of us according to Jesus. The other christ was promoting and fighting against Rome. |

you have a gross misunderstanding of what your reading. jesus fought the taxation as with being Galilean ha had heavy zealot influences and was questioned as to why he didnt pay tax. if you even knew half of what your talking about, you would know that "render unto Caesar", jesus was being tested about why he didnt pay taxes and had to offere up a answer that would not get him killed right then and there. you would also know he stated his people were exempt, and only foreigners should pay. you would also know in luke that jesus was put on the cross for tax evasion and perverting the nation after preaching to ALL tax collectors trying to get them to quit raping the people. he even got Zacc the tax collector to give back much of his rapings you would also know jesus tipping over the money tables would have been due to the roman corruption in the jewish temple which at that time also served as the treasury BUT YOU DONT KNOW thats the problem jesus knew fighting against the romans was suicide and he didnt want to end up like JtB he developed a idea of pecaeful resistance and tax avoidence. "give up everything you own" and follow me. nothing to tax that way and no property to take. |
