Pie
Say you had a pie, a delicious freshly baked pie. Now let's say that this pie was a pie of apple. You tell your child "DON'T EAT THIS PIE BECAUSE IF YOU DO YOU WILL SURELY DIE!". Now you know full well this won't happen but you just really don't want them touching this pie. Is this the wrong approach? NO! That's just some damn good use of scare tactics!
...Well it would have been, except you forgot that your kid doesn't know what the hell DEATH means :P. In fact it turns out this pie was magical and it was not until after your child ate the pie that they became aware of the concept of death and why stealing your pie was wrong. GOD JUST WANTED ALL THE APPLES TO HIMSELF! PS: Your child ends up living for 930 years, go figure. |

Considering this looks much like a retelling of the garden of Eden story, I'm going to move this to Biblical Criticism and History, where I believe such things are discussed. It may more accurately belong in Moral Foundations and Principles ("is it right to tell a lie?"), but I shall leave that to the next moderator to spot this. All I can aver at this time is that this, being obviously Judeo-Christian, and not addressing philosophical issues, should move elsewhere.

It is a BC&H in that it is relaying my opposition to the story of Adam and Eve. |

It was hair pie and not apple, that got Adam and Eve into trouble, after all they covered their butts not their mouths (I think I read that right). The word "touch" in Gen. 3.3 is "naga", one of the definitions is [to lie with a woman]. That tree/serpent must have looked fine.
