Awesome. I just did a quick skim, but I can see it's something I'll want to have.

I got about half way through "The Christ Conspiracy" a year ago. A move interupted my reading schedule and I never felt the urge to finish it off. While it is entertaining, she found connections EVERY WHERE. Too many connections. Playing it a little fast and loose, I fear. Comes off a tad angry too. But what do I know, my bookmark is only on page 191. Probably stay there a long while.
I've got "The Bible Unearthed" and "Who Wrote the Bible?" as well. They are both excellent books. Hmmm...I need a book that covers the New Testament........ |

hi Damian.
I'm going to suggest this: Forgery in Christianity It's in the infidels library. I'm not recommending it for scholarship, but rather for putting yourself in the right frame of mind. Skim it and dig into the juicy parts a little more carefully so that you can lay out all the rank hypocrisy in front of your girlfriend's sister. You didn't need that girlfriend anyway. Wheless has a quote in there from one of the Popes that is actually from a play - regarding the profit that has been brought through the fiction of Christ. Don't be citing it. Toto's advice is more good scholarship. But sometimes a bombastic clobbering is just plain fun. |

Is the quote you're referring to the one from Pope Leo X? Acharya quotes that as fact in her book.

Acharya S also supports Kersey Graves' 16 Crucified Saviors. The problems with this work undercut its effectiveness as polemic. I mean, fun is fun, and polemic is polemic, but this work has no credibility and supporting it is not good for the cause.

What can you say to Toto, except "you're right". I do so relish apt invectives e.g. "The Church Forgery Mill". You can be the rhetorical counterbalance to the pious utterings of the righteous with a good bag full of zingers. Guaranteed to leave lasting impressions and get you thrown out of the party. But check your facts. Some of the posters here are scholars and are quite reserved in their verbage. But at its core the whole thing is based on a lie. So I'm more inclined to call "interpolation" an act of "forging". |

"Explaining atheism" has nothing to so with the Bible IMO.
Athesits exist in every culture, and existed before Christianity existed. Not believing in god is or the supernatural is the primary issue, irrespective of the Bible. I also suggest 2000 Years of Disbelief. Understanding history is the best way to understand atheism. We had the Greeks and Romans advancing scientifically, and then Christianity was adopted by the State of Rome. Within 200 years the Fall of Rome occured as the most advanced civilization, which had existed for 1,000 years fell appart from inside. Then, the Catholic Church, based on the structure of the Roman governemnt, began massive wide scale oppression and cultureal destruction, destroying all of the most important elements of knowledge and shutting down schools in Greece and Italy, etc. Then we were consumed by the Dark Ages, when the Catholic Church used force to convert all fo Europe to Christainity, by killing hundreds of thouands, possibly millions, of people. Them during the Crusaids and other things, Europeans become exposed to the ancient pre-Christian knowledge and their whole world changed, they were able to see clear again, and knew that the Church was lying about things. Then you have the awakenign of western man, as people learned from texts over 1,000 old that they were at that time BEHIND the civilizations over 1,000 years old! We learned the old pre-Chrisitan knowledge, and then the rise of human knowledge began again, and the struggle against the Catholic lies took on a revolutioanry nature, first Protest-ant revolution, then further into secular and atheistic revolution as science marched forward, all the while the churches tryign to hold man back and kep them ensalved. Do you know how old and powerful the Catholic Church is? Its the oldest institution in western civilization, with arguable the strongest power structure and deepest roots of wealth. Do you know why the Catholic Church opposes birth control? Its a a breeding prgram to produce more followers and an attempt to out breed non-Catholcis, to "win by force of numbers." This institution is fucking sick, it is the most vial institution in the history of man, just look at them today, they have been covering up child rape for centuries. The gold in the Vatican today was taken by the enslavement and destruction of Native Americans. By the middle of the 20th century, the Protestants, who had decalred eternal war against Catholicism, knowing how vile and horrific it is, began to see that they had to clutch back onto the solid power of the Church, adn rejoined forced with the Catholics in the fight against atheists, that is to say Communsits. The rise of atheistic Communist resulted in the need for all religions to unite to fight against atheism, and they did. The first place this new unification took place was in fascist Europe. Mussolini signed the Lateran Treaty with the Pope. Protestants and Catholics, typically split in voting patterns, joined forced to both vote for Hitler in Germany in order to prevent the election of the Social Democracts or Communsit party. In Germany and Italy atheists were murdered and sent to concentration camps. Jews were targeted, because Jews were seen as allies of the forces of secularism. Western atheism is the struggle for human liberation from the greatest and most horrific force to invade human existance, that being Christianity, established as the most oppressive force in human history through the Roman State and the rise of the Holy Roman Empire, which spilt more blood on Europe than any other organization. |

We need to kill the pope, and storm the Vatican, which houses some of the oldest and most important artifacts in the worldm held under tight security and secrecy for over a thousands years. Now all religions are trying to form a kind of alliance though, to help each other through unified strenght, this is why many religious leaders in the west are very careful when approaching Islam. The attacks on Islam can easly be turned against Christainity as well, so they take the PC approach as much as possible on major issues. |
