Greek translation help (Yes again)
I need a word for 'without belief' similar to 'without knowledge'; 'agnostic'.
Are there any suitable Greek root? Thanks! |

apistia: disbelief, distrust a-pistos: passive - not to be truted, faithless (of a person), not credible, beyond belief (of a thing); active - not believing or trusting, mitrustful, not obeying DCH Quote:

The Greek doesn't really provide a good sounding choice here. It doesn't sound convincing to call someone an apistist. Why not go with a Latin word which already exists in English: infidel?

I think "apisteos" soundes quite okay... Of course it doesn't have the "revolutionary feel" of "infidel", but on other side, the greek language gives it more philosphical taste, in my amateur viewpoint (I don't know either greek or latin)
Slight problem is that no one would know what it means
