Default Why Does Chritianity Need The Old Testament ?

It seems to me that Jesus message of peace and love is in conflict with the old testament , where every commandment seem to be broken.

The O/T is the fictitious story of the jewish people , and since Jesus ' death , there is a new covenant with god that incudes all the nations of the world and not just the jews as mentioned in the O/T .

So apart from ,far fetchingly , prophetizing Jesus ' coming or other events about a messiah ; Why does Christianity need the old testament ?

Because when Christianity started, noone was able to know how old the world was, so the Old Testament was a way of proving that the Jewish deity was older than the Greek deities at the time, and presumably the texts were almost as old as the universe itself, so it was a way to claim legitimacy.

It has always amazed me how the Bible esp. the OT managed to impose itself as the "default" holy text. Why didn´t it happen before christianity, since it had already been translated into Greek? How unique is the Old Testament that it can remain today as "THE revealed word of God"?

This is not a new thought. Read up on Marcion, an important 'heretical' church leader who had definite opinions on the OT.

In the Old Testament, God punishes whoever does not follow His will. In the New Testament, God punishes whoever does not follow His will. Doesn't seem like a huge contrast to me.

The New Covenant only exists as the fulfillment of the Old just as Jesus is the Messiah as prophecized in the Old Testament.

C'mon, this should be easy! The God of the New and Old Testaments are - Tuh-dah! - the same God.

Peace.

Because the OT was Jesus' scripture (Mat 26:54, Mark 12:10, Luke 4:21, John 5:39). How could His followers NOT consider it sacred if Jesus did?

This is not entirely correct. Sure the current gospels contain OT quotes, but Marcion's Luke nor Paul did. According to Marcion, all the Jewish allusions here later impolations and thus the real Jesus didn't quote that at all and thus have no need for the OT at all.

Yes I agree , but in the N/T isn't god pushed to a second or even third role by the star of the show ! and since christians can only accede to god through Jesus , then the question " who is really in charge up there ? " pops up .

The O/T is definitely a myth . When the stories of the patriarchs like Noah ,Abraham, Moses , Joshua ,Kings David and Solomon cannot be historically proven or even that these pillars of the O/T even existed is a thorn on the side of christianity or Judaism for that matter .
