I really hope a recording or transcript is posted eventually. I would love to hear Ehrman argue his case.

Oh, sorry, I am not aware of the time difference...u see I am in London.
Anyway, as for the transcript, I will told via email: +++++++++++++ In early May we plan to temporarily post a written transcript of the debate to the following web address: http://www.holycross.edu/departments...surrdebate.htm At that time, information about a possible audio/video tape of the debate will be posted. +++++++++++++ If anyone manages to see the debate, then remember to post some details about it... |

I would love to offer my little assessment after viewing the debate.
I've seen a few of prof. Craig's debates and he is a nice speaker. He had around 4-5 debates with the Muslim apologist Shabir Ally some years ago, one of them on the topic of the historicity of the resurrection. I think in most of the debates Shabir had the upper hand but Craig did slightly better in the resurrection debate. Recently I read Prof. Ehrman's "Misquoting Jesus..." It appears to have caused quite a stir in the U.S. although what Ehrman says in it, regarding the textual transmission of the gospels, is nothing that new. A few years back, in 1997, the British textual critic, Prof. D. C. Parker, said much the same in his excellent "The Living text of the Gospels." I've also read Ehrman's intro to the New Testament and a few other books of his. He is without doubt a top scholar and a fine speaker. Can't wait to see how he managed with Prof. William Craig. |

The debate is at Holy Cross in Worcester MA. We'll have to hope that some of our New England posters can see it.

I'm particularly curious to see how the debate goes on the question of whether we can historically prove miracles. Craig is good at badgering people who take arguments against them for granted but not at actually rebutting the arguments when presented, and Ehrman's "Apocalyptic Prophet" had a pretty clear statement of Hume's argument.
